Principal's Report: 8/29/25
Dear Manzanita Families,
The first month of school is a wrap, and I'm incredibly proud of how smoothly our first few weeks have gone. The students have settled in wonderfully, and it's been a joy to see them reconnecting with friends and teachers. Our new kindergarteners have been especially impressive, showing great courage and curiosity as they navigate their new environment.
The staff has been working tirelessly to create engaging and supportive classrooms. We are focused on building a strong foundation for learning, and it's been fantastic to see the halls filled with laughter and the sound of active learning.
We want to extend a big thank you to everyone who came to our Curriculum Nights this month. We hope you found them informative and obtained a good feel for what your child's day at school is like. Building a strong partnership between home and school is incredibly important to us at Manzanita, and we are committed to keeping the lines of communication open. We truly appreciate your support!
We also want to give a special shout-out to all of our amazing volunteers who have already dedicated their time to supporting our school. Engaging our families and fostering strong relationships continues to be one of our site-based goals, and there will be many more opportunities throughout the year to get involved in your child's learning and other school-wide events. Be sure to keep an eye on ParentSquare for these chances to help out.
Finally, we're looking forward to seeing you at our community events this year. One of our biggest is the annual Desert Dash, which will take place on October 18 at Sabino Canyon. More details will be shared soon!
To get ready for the Desert Dash, our PE teacher, Mr. Campa, will again be leading our popular Fun Fit Family Saturdays (FFFS) on the lower field. The first one is coming up soon on Saturday, September 20, at 8:00 AM. We've had great turnout for these in the past and can't wait to see you there! Please check the flyer below for more details.
We are looking forward to the exciting weeks and months ahead. Manzanita truly is a special place for children!
Have a fantastic Labor Day weekend!
Sincerely,Rob Henikman
