Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Manzanita Elementary School. Building strong relationships is at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to fostering meaningful connections with each student while helping them reach their personal best.

At Manzanita, we are dedicated to continually enhancing our instructional practices to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of every child. Our goal is to equip students with the skills, academic mindset, and character necessary to thrive in an ever-changing future, including careers that may not even exist yet. We aim to nurture lifelong learners who consistently demonstrate good character.

Our talented teachers work diligently to provide a well-rounded educational experience. Our structured literacy model emphasizes phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and critical reading skills. Math instruction focuses on real-world problem-solving while reinforcing foundational computation skills through the use of the Eight Mathematical Practices. Differentiated instruction ensures each student receives the appropriate level of support and challenge.

However, a well-rounded education extends far beyond literacy and math. Students will engage in hands-on, project-based learning that integrates technology, STEM concepts will be embedded within our K-5 robotics program, and our specialist teachers provide relevant and engaging learning experiences in art, music, PE, Spanish, band, and choir.  Our library, filled with award-winning titles, fosters a love of reading and supports our intense literacy focus.

Equally important is nurturing the whole child. Our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) framework cultivates a positive school climate rooted in strong relationships, respect, responsibility, and character growth.

Please explore our website, schedule a school tour, and/or attend an event and see for yourself what makes Manzanita a special place for children.

Sincerely,
